obscene telephone calling: Variant sexual behavior in which there is anonymous telephone communication involving lewd language.

obscenity: That which is offensive to modesty or decency; by legal distinction, the graphic depiction of nudity that is judged unfit to be shown or displayed.

olfactory sensations: Perception or awareness of smell.

omnisexual: See pansexual.

“onanism”: Masturbation.

oophorectomy: Surgical removal of the ovaries.

oral-genital sex: Mouth to genital contact between partners to create sexual pleasure.

orgasm: A highly pleasurable series of muscular contractions of the pelvic floor muscles occurring at the peak of sexual arousal; involves the sudden discharge of accumulated sexual tension.

orgasmic dysfunction: An inhibition of the orgasmic reflex in women; also known as anorgasmia and inhibited female orgasm.

orgasmic platform The narrowing of the: vaginal entrance due to vasocongestion of the surrounding tissue during sexual excitement.

orgasm phase: The third phase of the sexual response cycle in which rhythmic muscle contractions of the pelvic area occur.

ostomy: An artificial opening in a person’s body.

ovariectomy: Surgical removal of the ovaries.

ovary: One of a pair of female reproductive glands in which ova and female sexual hormones are produced.

ovulation: The periodic ripening, rupture, and discharge of ova from the ovary.

ovum: The female reproductive cell, or gamete.

oxytocin: A hypothalamic hormone released through the pituitary gland; performs a number of sex-related functions, one of which is causing milk ejection (or “letdown”) from the mammary glands.
