Free Contact Lenses
Contact lenses are a good substitute for bulky glasses that keep getting
misplaced all the time. Even though there has been a dramatic evolution
of newer, classier, and more stylish glasses frames, more and more
patients are leaning towards using contacts lenses presently.
Ordering Contact Lenses
Contact lenses, like regular glasses, can only be bought by prescription
from a qualified ophthalmologist, optometrist, or optician. Now even
these physicians can directly supply the contact lens packages at the
hospital or through a private practice instead of making the patients
go to an optician. Also, most optical shops have an optician in the
store for patients who wish to get their eyes checked before buying
the proper contact lenses.
Soft Contact Lenses
There are three kinds of contact lenses including soft contact lenses,
rigid glass permeable contact lenses, and hard glass contact lenses.
Most physicians suggest the soft or the rigid glass permeable contact
lenses and in very rare cases prescribe the hard glass contact lenses.
Bifocal, astigmatic, colored and other contact lenses are all available
in these three kinds.
Diabetes
Diabetes has acquired its name from the Greek word "siphon".
Diabetes is a disorder of the metabolism and the endocrine system, and
is a blood-related disease. It has two forms: Diabetes mellitus (from
the Greek word for sugar) and Diabetes insipidus. The main causes of
this disorder are that either the body does not produce enough insulin,
as happens in type 1 diabetes, or it does not use the available insulin
in a proper manner, as in type 2 diabetes. Insulin is a hormone that
helps the body convert glucose into energy. The factors which contribute
to diabetes include lack of exercise, excessive weight, age, poor diet
and, most importantly, genetics.
Diabetes Diets
Diabetes is a disorder of the body's sugar-absorption and utilization
abilities, and hence the only possible way to bring sugar levels back
to normal may be by avoiding sweets. But it is not necessary that you
sacrifice your favorite dishes or sweets. If a balanced meal, specific
for the person is planned, the sugar levels can be controlled. If such
a diet is maintained on a regular basis it can even reverse the signs
of diabetes. And it does not mean that the food has to be bitter or
flavorless. There are many options to choose from, but the main idea
is to choose the right food.
Diabetes Supplies
Diabetes is a lifelong disease and can affect any one at any age or time.
For many years this was considered to be a life-threatening disease,
as there was no remedy. With improvements in research many therapies
have been developed. The first step in controlling diabetes is to know
that your blood sugar levels are high, and to check this a number of
tools have been developed. It used to be that regular blood tests were
the only way to check sugar levels, but advances in blood-testing technology
help you check your sugar level anywhere and anytime.
Symptoms of Diabetes
Diabetes is a disorder of the body's sugar-regulation abilities. Most
of the time it goes undiagnosed because the symptoms are not very clear.
There are many symptoms, but they don't appear in all cases. The symptoms
include frequent urination (polyuria), which occurs because of the
high blood sugar levels. High blood sugar levels result in an overflow
of glucose from the kidneys, carrying the fluid along with it. Because
there is a constant loss of body fluid through urination there is a
constant thirsty feeling (polydipsia).
Lasik
Lasik, which stands for 'laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis', is a
kind of laser treatment or refractive laser eye surgery for individuals
with a high degree of myopia, that is greater than 5 diopters. It is
also known by alternate names like 'Laser Vision Correction'. The theory
of Lasik surgery was developed by Dr. Jose Barraquer, who in 1970 introduced
the first microkeratome, which is the instrument used for carrying
out Lasik surgery. This procedure is called 'keratomileusis', in which
thin corneal flaps are cut and the corneal shape is altered. The first
Lasik was performed in the USA in 1991.
Lasik Complications
Although comparatively rare, complications because of Lasik surgery do
happen. On the good side, there has never been any reported case of
blindness after a PRK or Lasik surgery.
Lasik Eye Surgery
People who suffer from myopia or shortsightedness are treated with the
help of Lasik eye surgery. This surgery is very popular since it is
relatively painless and offers a fast recovery.
Lasik Surgery
Today, one of the biggest advancements in ophthalmology is laser surgery.
In spite of this, only about 20% of ophthalmologists in the United
States are trained to perform this operation.
Medication
Medications are drugs taken to reduce or cure medical conditions and
illnesses. Medications are commonly divided into over-the-counter (OTC)
medication and prescription-only medication (POM). OTC medication is
generally deemed to be safe. In other words, a person consuming OTC
medication has little chance of doing himself harm if he follows the
instructions written in the label.
Pain Medication
Pain comes in different forms. It can be dull or heightened, numbing
or burning, chronic or acute. It could be a minor aberration or wholly
immobilizing. The sensation that one feels depends on the area of the
injury, as well as the way the brain deals with the signals.
Pet Medication
Pets bring delight to our lives. Thus, it becomes our responsibility
to make sure that they get the best care possible. Maintaining the
health of our pets is an important aspect of being a conscientious
pet owner. Now, with the ever-growing awareness of animal behavior,
there are a plethora of veterinarians to look after their health requirements.
Pet owners would do well to consult these professionals on their pets'
health issues and the necessary medications to guarantee their pets
live healthy and fruitful lives.
Prescription Medication
Prescription medications like pain relievers, stimulants, sedatives and
tranquilizers are wonderful tools for treatment. Pain medications make
surgery a possibility and facilitate fruitful lives for people with
chronic pain. Generally, people who take prescription medications use
them sensibly. Conversely, the inept or non-medical use of such medications
is a severe health hazard. The imprudent use of prescription medications
such as central nervous system (CNS) depressants, opioids and stimulants
can cause drug addiction, which is typified by compulsive use.
