gain The ratio of the magnitude of the output signal with respect to that of the input signal.

gauge factor The ratio of the change in resistance to the change in length in a strain gauge.

GFI Ground-fault interrupter. A protection device that senses small amounts of ground currents and opens the circuit. The GFI must be manually reset.

GTO Gate turn-off or gate turn-on power semiconductor device.
