Like the three-phase motor, the single-phase motor has
three basic component the stator, rotor, and end plates. Fig. 1 shows
a cut-away picture of a single-phase motor. Note the stator, rotor, and end plates in this figure. Fig. 2 also shows a picture of a stator with
its rotor removed. This picture gives one a better idea of the relationship
between the stator and rotor.
