The motor’s
data plate lists all the pertinent data concerning the motor’s operational
characteristics. It's sometimes called the name plate. Fig. 1 (right)
shows an example of a data plate for a typical AC motor. The data plate
contains information about the ID (identification number), FR (frame and motor design). motor type. phase. horsepower rating, rpm, volts,
amps. frequency, service factor (SF), duty cycle (time), insulation class,
ambient temperature rise, and NEMA design and code. Each of these features
will be discussed in detail in the next sections. |
